Agnieszka Kościańska works at the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the University of Warsaw. She engages in research in religion, gender and sexuality. She has co-edited two books: Kobiety i religie [Women and religions], 2006, and Gender. Perspektywa antropologiczna [Gender. Anthropological perspective], 2007. She has authored a book titled Potęga ciszy. Konwersja a rekonstrukcja porządku płci na przykładzie nowego ruchu religijnego Brahma Kumaris [The power of silence. Conversion and reconstruction of the gender order: the case of Brahma Kumaris religious movement], 2009. She has published articles in, among others, Kultura i społeczeństwo, Ludzie, Focaal. European Journal of Anthropology and Ethnologie Française; in the years of 2002-2008 she was on the board of the (op.cit.) magazine. She was the grant holder of the TEMPUS program (University of Copenhagen, 1999), the Danish government (University of Copenhagen, 2005), the Kosciuszko Foundation (New School for Social Research, 2006) and the Nowoczesny Uniwersytet [Modern university] program (2009/2010); for the years of 2010-2012 she was granted a Marie Curie International Outgoing Fellowship (visited University of Warsaw and Harvard University).
